The trip

So we're back! The trip was good we got to see all the people we wanted to see and apart from a slight stomach flu (the bus was out for 3 days) we kept too our schedule as much as possible.

During our time in Sweden 4 people we know got a year older and my morfar had a bypass operation. I also got to hold a 17 days old baby (she is lovely) and bus got teased by his future wife.

I'll tell you more about the trip at another time when the jet-lag, that has crippled my brain, is gone.

Beautiful!

Today was beautiful. 25 °C sunny and with a slight warm breeze. It felt like summer. We went out to lunch and then to the park. Me and hubby strolling along while the bus was napping and then we got to play at the playground with the bus. The bus has never played in the park before. He was too small last summer and the winter was too cold and snowy. He loved the park. He crawled around and tried to put stones, sticks and leaves in his mouth. We went on a rocking albatross and we went down the slides and we crawled in the sand. We did not swing though cause Montreal has decided not to put up the swings until May 1st. It was so much fun. The bus was hanging out in a t-shirt and jeans and a sun hat, he looked so old, like a real little boy, not a baby.

When we got back home hubby cleaned on the balcony and I started packing. Think I did most of the packing, only waiting for things like the wash bag and food for the bus and we're good to go.

Then my mother-in-law came over with pizza, yummy. The bus hardly napped at all today so he was overtired and had to go to bed a little early, it was a big day for him.

tomorrow we're leaving... on a jet plane...

10 months

Today the bus is 10 months old. wow.
Tomorrow we fly to Sweden....

I'm very stressed and still I haven't started packing yet.

My morfar is very sick and so is my mormor. That sucks.

Today looks like it's gonna be a beautiful day.

headache

Feeling like crap right now, got a pounding headache and feeling very nauseous. Don't know why. Hubby was feeling a bit under the weather himself today as well, so the only one who's healthy is the bus. Went to the paediatrician today and he's cleared for flying on Friday. His ears are all clear and he's not sniffly or anything. We asked about giving him benadryl on the flight as it makes babies drowsy and the flight easier for everyone involved. We were just not sure about the moral aspects, to drug or not to drug you kid. Paediatrician said it's fine though so we're gonna try it at home before leaving since some kids don't get drowsy but hyper-active instead.

I'm really starting to stress about this trip now... it's gonna be rough on the plane alone with the bus and being without hubby for 10 long days. But on the plus side I do get to see my family and friends and that brand new little baby girl. Can't wait.

Went to the mall today and got a spring jacket for the bus. Figured it'd be good to have since spring appears to finally have made it to Montreal. About time I say.  Now all we have to wait for are the swings to be put up in the park so we can go swing.

Now I shall watch last nights BB9.

DIY

This morning when I was having a shower I realized that some of the silicone paste thingy that seals the tiles around the tub were loose. So I, of course, had to pull on it a little. It all came off. No that's not true, all of it didn't come off only enough to make me have to pull the rest off to redo the work. Spent an hour while the bus was sleeping pulling the rest off and cleaning it properly. It's way overdue. We did a crapphorriffic job on it in the first place and then we were to lazy to fix it. But today it's getting done. As soon as the bus wakes up we're off to Rona to buy all the stuff we need.

I have to admit though that I kind of like DIY. Hubby hates it with a passion but I kind of like it, if I can have all the time I need to do it well.

We've been busy bees lately, don't know what we've done to make us busy but we have no time. Time is running away from us, the bus now stands alone for a couple of seconds here and there, he'll be walking soon. I put up gates everywhere around the flat to ensure he doesn't get into trouble, or falls down stairs. In a week and a half we're off to Sweden. Can't wait. But I have to admit it's a little bittersweet. Gonna miss hubby a lot a lot. Haven't been away from him for longer than 3 nights and that was in 2004 so it's gonna be lonely. At least I'll have the bus, poor hubby won't even have him. Not looking forward to the flight though, have started planning what to bring in the carry-on luggage and stuff.

Don't really have much to say today so I think I'll leave it at that.

name-day

Today it's bus's name-day in Sweden. So today it'll be his day! I say that like all the other days aren't his... there is no day that's not Bus's...

On our blackboard in the kitchen it says on top "Bus rules this house"

Luckily he's very cute so even though I disagree with some of his techniques.. like sleep deprivation and excessive crying and pulling on the cats' tails, it's OK I can live with him as my ruling tyrant.

Got some disturbing news today about some people I used to go to school with. Well 2 of them are dead in suicides and one is in jail for keeping his girlfriend hostage and beating her and raping her for quite a while apparently. Feels weird knowing that even though I wasn't best friend with these people or anything I still knew them and I spoke to them and I've been to parties with them and stuff. I guess you never really know some people.

Gotta go bus is spreading dirty laundry all over the floor.

*UPDATE: turns out the name-day is tomorrow ah well

You have got to be kidding me!

Just looking out the window today makes me depressed... more snow. It's April for crying out loud! We need nice mid teens temperatures and sunshine. Not rain and snow!

Been starting to worry a lot about the flight to Sweden. It's in 2 weeks. I had nightmares all night about forgetting the bus's passport at home and missing the flight and stuff. It was awful. I am not looking forward to the trip. It's gonna be 14 hours of me and a cranky bus with no sleep.

In more pleasant news; my hubby's cousin's fiancee had their baby April 1st. A little girl they're calling Raphaelle. I've seen photos and she's pretty. Congratulations

Soon my friend Maria will have her baby too. She was due on March 31st but last time I spoke to her on April 2nd there were no baby. But I haven't heard from her in a couple of days so maybe she's had the baby yesterday or today.

Everyone is having babies now. I know 3 people who were all due like now. It's just a shame for them that the best baby has already been born and is ours. I love my bus so much there are not really enough words to explain. He's so great. He stands by himself now, for a couple of seconds or so. Soon he'll be walking.

Time goes so quickly with him... unfortunately I can't say the same about this winter...

Canada Post

I don't know if I've complained about Canada Post here before but I will now. Canada Post sucks. Every time I get a package from home it takes like 3 weeks to get here and it arrives in a plastic bag from Toronto saying we're sorry about the delay we broke your envelope.

Also, as I have mentioned before, I use ebay a lot and therefor rely on Canada Post to give me my stuff and our Canada Post package truck driver is a lazy f*ck. He never actually tries to deliver my packages but writes those little slips they put on your door saying we tried to deliver but you weren't here. Except I am always here and those little slips only ever makes it to me the day after the supposed delivery attempt happened.

I have complained about this to Canada Post before and I got to speak to a nice supervisor who gave me his direct number in case this happened again. After that call we did actually receive some of our packages. But it's been a while since that call and our mail guy has started slacking again, and I have misplaced that number. Well it wasn't so bad having to go get the packages yesterday when hubby was here taking care of the bus and all went smoothly. But today after getting the slip and packing up the bus and walking up there in the wind only to find out that the address on the slip I was given was incorrect and there were no package waiting for me, I was a bit pissed off.

I called again to Canada Post to complain and told the poor lady all of this and she made a proper complain and apologized and told me this will never happen again and if it does to call again and drastic measures will be taken. Nice, I can get this guy fired.

I understand that delivering mail is a bitch and that parking on our street is hell (I mean I live here and I have to deal with the parking situation all the time) but when I buy stuff from ebay I pay for shipping and handling and I want my stuff delivered to my door.

Nuff said.

April fool's

Yesterday was April 1st so mine and Hubby's bull-shit meters were on high alert. So when my mother-in-law called and said that hubby's cousin and his fiancee was in the hospital having their baby we thought it was a joke. It wasn't, but it gave us an idea.

We went on facebook and posted as our status 'is expecting number 2' and 'is gonna be a daddy again' respectively. We honestly didn't think anyone would fall for it but boy were we wrong. We got lots of congratulations and well wishes and the bus's Godmother was so excited and happy that she called me a skunk ape when I told her it was a joke. If you don't know what a skunk ape is you can just Google it.

It was very funny, at least to us. I told my mom about the joke over the phone (I didn't try to fool her) and she thought it was very mean and a bad joke, so did my sister-in-law when she called and asked if I was preggers and how come she had to find out from one of her friends and not from us.

My friend Maria fell for it too but she seemed mainly sad that I was gonna have baby number 2 in Canada and not with her in Sweden a couple of years from now. We expected our babies together the last time. Her little girl, who is of course bus's future wife, was born 7 weeks before the bus. We have said that we were gonna have our second children together so we can spend time together both while preggers and then with tiny tots.

All in all that was the first and best April fool's joke I've made. I usually never fool anyone. But it was not the best April fool's joke ever cause that one belongs to some TV personality or newspaper person or something similar in Sweden back in the good old days when most TVs were black and white. The colour TV had arrived in Sweden but most people didn't have one yet since they were a bit expensive and why throw away your functioning black and white one before it breaks... right? Anyways someone went on TV or if it was the newspaper (I can't remember) and told the Swedish people that if they didn't own a colour TV but wanted to watch TV in colour they could just put a nylon stocking over the screen, and voila, colour TV! Ridiculous numbers of Swedes did that day put nylon stockings on their TVs only to find out that it doesn't work. Funny!
